2026 Autumn Tournament

A double-elimination bracket on Consternation flags, run over the autumn and aiming to finish by Christmas. Every round is a single race, run by Shatty. The bracket is revealed Tuesday, Sept. 29th at 10pm ET.

The bracket

64 racers in a bracket of 64. 126 matches, 127 if the Grand Final is reset.

The bracket is wider than most screens. Drag it sideways, or scroll it with shift held — the page itself stays put.

Matches are numbered in the order they are raced, which is why the winners bracket runs 1–32 and then picks up again at 49: 33–48 are the first losers round, raced in between. These are the same numbers Challonge uses, so a match is the same match on both.

The winners-bracket racer needs one win. The losers-bracket racer needs two: taking the first race forces a second and deciding race.

ta909 moves on. specialk3782 delivers the biggest upset yet.

Twenty-one of the original 61 racers are still in the Autumn Tournament. ta909 has the first spot in the Winners Semifinals, chessjerk and shatty are headed for a quarterfinal, and specialk3782 has knocked out CaffyJD. Five of the pre-tournament top ten are already out. Seven racers remain unbeaten; for the other fourteen, every match from here is an elimination race.

The Round of 16

chessjerk followed his win over Iceblue by beating droois in 57:17. That is two top-four opponents in consecutive rounds, and it puts him one win from the Winners Semifinals. droois recorded a DNF and will have to come back through the losers bracket.

The Missing Links had to play each other: Moneymerks beat League teammate thomjay in 1:03:52. Antlerz44 also advanced, beating BrewersFanJP 1:13:32 to 1:25:14. The closest race of the round was latebit against TruantGamer. After more than 84 minutes, latebit finished just 1:12 ahead, 1:24:23 to 1:25:35.

shatty beat ChanceM in 1:04:04, Malchior beat Kingdahl by 5:10, and Fleury followed his upset of jessandy8 with a 59:50 win over TheGobOne. ta909 stayed unbeaten with a 57:45 against cUstOm, who finished 3:28 later.

Since the previous report, the remaining Round of 32 matches were also completed: TruantGamer beat Malkier, Kingdahl beat Hyo24, and BrewersFanJP beat poolfloatg.

The Winners Quarterfinals

ta909 took the first semifinal spot on Monday, beating Antlerz44 55:55 to 59:20. He now waits for latebit or Fleury, who race Saturday at 7 PM ET. Fleury has already beaten jessandy8 and TheGobOne to get here; latebit just came through the closest race of the Round of 16.

chessjerk vs shatty and Moneymerks vs Malchior have not yet been scheduled. chessjerk vs shatty looks like the pick of the remaining quarterfinals. chessjerk has beaten Iceblue and droois, while shatty sent CaffyJD to the losers bracket in the opening round. One of them is about to take a first loss.

Moneymerks and Malchior play for another semifinal spot. Moneymerks is coming off the win over thomjay; Malchior earned his place with that 5:10 win over Kingdahl.

CaffyJD is out. So are Iceblue and Bogie.

specialk3782 has the biggest upset of the tournament so far: a 1:01:41 win over CaffyJD, who recorded a DNF. The No. 43 eliminated the No. 2 in losers Round 2. CaffyJD had already lost to shatty, so there was no second chance left.

Bogie eliminated Iceblue 1:02:21 to 1:10:03, then went out himself two days later. BrewersFanJP finished in 50:17 to Bogie's 56:34, a 6:17 margin. That 50:17 is the fastest finish recorded in the tournament, and it keeps BrewersFanJP in contention after his loss to Antlerz44.

Cfalcon and jessandy8 are out as well, beaten by Nochibato and equations19 respectively. Along with CaffyJD, Iceblue and Bogie, that makes five of the pre-tournament top ten eliminated. poolfloatg also picked up a major upset, beating Flipheal despite a 31-place gap in the rankings.

ChronoJJ has kept his tournament alive with three straight wins against OzzSolo, Nochibato and TruantGamer. YmustUhateME has done the same against Eykir, BBQdotgov and ChanceM. Kingdahl joined them in losers Round 5 on Tuesday, beating equations19 1:30:12 to 1:38:09.

The next elimination matches

cUstOm vs BrewersFanJP is confirmed, though they have not set a start time. It is a Midwest matchup between the No. 9 and No. 11, with one of them going home. ChronoJJ will face the winner of ExtremeRando vs TheGobOne, scheduled for Thursday at 7 PM ET.

An all-Sweden match is possible further down the bracket. specialk3782 and Malkier race Friday at 10 PM ET; the winner faces thomjay, and the winner of that match gets Kingdahl. thomjay needs one win to make the Swedish matchup happen.

There could also be a Shadow Cartel matchup. poolfloatg and Lumaga race Wednesday at 8 PM ET for the right to face droois. If droois wins that next match, he gets League teammate YmustUhateME, and one of them would have to end the other's tournament.

Still unbeaten

ta909, chessjerk, shatty, Malchior, latebit, Moneymerks and Fleury are still unbeaten. Everyone else is one loss from elimination. Shadow Cartel is the only League team with all three racers still in: shatty on the winners side, droois and YmustUhateME on the losers side.

Each stage as it was written. The opinions are never revised after the fact; a wrong fact is corrected.

After the Round of 64Monday, Oct. 12th

The first round went to form. The second has not.

The opening round is in the books. Of its 32 matches, 28 were decided on the course, one was awarded when a racer did not show, and three were byes. The yardstick here is the tournament ranking beside every name in the bracket, not the seat: the seats were drawn by wheel, so seat 64 beating seat 1 means nothing, and No. 7 chessjerk beating No. 46 ISUMatt is exactly what the rankings expected. By that measure the first round mostly went to form, with the higher-ranked racer winning 23 of the 28 races. The Round of 32 has been less polite.

The upsets

Five of the 28 races went against the rankings, and only one by more than ten places. LysanderTheLion, ranked 51st, beat Ultralavos, ranked 38th, 1:35:02 to 1:37:08: a 13-place upset between two racers who are teammates on Lion's Opening in the League. Tetra (60) beat GrandpaSzabo (50), who did not finish.

shatty (8) went 59:57 against CaffyJD, the No. 2 in the field, who did not finish, and that put the second-ranked racer in the tournament into the losers bracket in the first round. Eatmysteel (21) beat syscrusher (17), another pair of League teammates, and Nochibato (23) beat YmustUhateME (22) by 26 seconds.

The close ones, and the quick ones

droois beat DEM_Gaming 58:23 to 58:33, ten seconds, the closest race of the round. TruantGamer beat Bort by 32 seconds, 1:01:55 to 1:02:27. The fastest time was jessandy8's 53:53, and the widest margin was Hyo24's 43:52 over freedomfighter.

The wheel put the No. 1 and the No. 6 in the same opening match. ta909 went 1:03:22, and Cfalcon did not finish.

The Round of 32 so far

Thirteen of its 16 matches are played, and they have been harder on the rankings than the opening round. Fleury, ranked 31st, beat jessandy8, ranked 10th, 1:06:10 to 1:20:28. At 21 places it is the biggest upset of the tournament so far, and it came two days after jessandy8 posted the fastest time of the first round.

chessjerk (7) beat Iceblue (3) 1:11:00 to 1:18:42; Iceblue has not lost a League race all season. droois beat Bogie 1:12:49 to 1:15:54, the second time this autumn he has beaten him, after a 1:05 win in Week 4 of the League. Moneymerks went 53:13, the fastest time anybody has posted in the tournament.

shatty has already gone a round further, beating ChanceM in the Round of 16, and is the first racer into the Winners Quarterfinals. Three Round of 32 matches are left: Malkier, who had a bye, against TruantGamer on Tuesday; Hyo24 against Kingdahl on Wednesday; and poolfloatg against BrewersFanJP, who have not set a time.

The losers bracket

Fifteen racers are out. The highest ranked of them is syscrusher (17), who lost to his own League teammate and then to CaffyJD. ISUMatt, who drew seat 1, lost to chessjerk and then to equations19 by 15:10.

The No. 2, No. 3, No. 5, No. 6 and No. 10 are all one loss from elimination: CaffyJD, Iceblue, Bogie, Cfalcon and jessandy8. CaffyJD and Iceblue have each won their first losers bracket race.

Unbeaten, and what is next

Eighteen racers have not lost, five of them in the top ten: ta909, droois, chessjerk, shatty and cUstOm. Two of those five meet in the Round of 16: chessjerk, who has beaten ISUMatt and Iceblue, against droois, who has beaten DEM_Gaming and Bogie. It has no time yet.

ta909 and cUstOm, ranked 1st and 9th, race on Tuesday at 8 PM ET. thomjay and Moneymerks, League teammates on The Missing Links, race on Wednesday at 6 PM ET.
